This course examines the world of international taxation and looks at how foreign investors are taxed on U.S. real estate during ownership. It also examines the details of the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act (FIRTA), which addresses the tax consequences to foreign investors disposing of their U.S. realty interests. Finally, the course examines some options to minimize the FIRPTA tax. Other available international tax courses address both the U.S. tax consequences of U.S. taxpayers with foreign operations and the U.S. tax consequences of foreign taxpayers with U.S. operations.
