This comprehensive course provides professionals with an in-depth understanding of financial reporting requirements for not-for-profit (NFP) organizations. Participants will explore the authoritative literature, terminology, and unique characteristics that distinguish NFPs from business entities. Key topics include the structure and presentation of financial statements, recognition and reporting of revenues and support, allocation of program and fundraising costs, and essential accounting concepts specific to NFPs. It also addresses advanced reporting considerations, such as depreciation, interfund borrowings, cash flow reporting, and selected tax issues affecting NFPs. This course discusses churches, charities, fraternal organizations, associations, and unions but does not cover governmental units, universities, voluntary health and welfare organizations, or hospitals.
