From small, specialized nonprofits to large, multi-discipline nonprofits there's one thing they have in common—a board of directors. Depending on the size of the organization and the number of employees, the board is assigned certain responsibilities. This course provides insight into those responsibilities and how to ensure your board of directors meets and understands them.
You'll learn the difference between a nonprofit and a tax-exempt organization and the difference between a governing board and working board. You'll learn the roles of board officers, the fiduciary duties of a board director, and what traits to look for when selecting board members.
You'll learn the purpose and legal requirements for bylaws as well as specific clauses that must be included. Finally, you'll learn steps for creating a network of engaged stakeholders who support your nonprofit's mission.
