Welcome to the “Culture of Civility: Creating a Harassment-Free Workplace (Maine)” video course meant to help employees understand how to recognize and respond to harassment, as well as behave appropriately and prevent harassment from occurring in the first place. This course, comprising nine video lessons, defines different types of harassment, explains how bystanders can respond, and describes the process for making harassment complaints. By learning about things like the reasonable person standard and the protected classes, viewers will be better able to navigate workplace situations and keep themselves and their coworkers safe from harassing and inappropriate behavior. After completing this course, viewers will be familiar with workplace issues like sexual harassment, abusive conduct, and harassment based on sex and gender and understand how to address them. In addition, learners will become knowledgeable about specific Maine legislation, like the Maine Human Rights Act, that provides protection for employees. To comply with Maine requirements, this course should be customized so that it includes your company’s relevant contact information, complaint procedure, and policy on anti-harassment. To access your activity IDs, a View CE Certificate button will display on the profile upon completion of the course. This program is valid for 1 PDC for Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), 1 hour(s) of recertification credit through the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) and 1 PDU for the Project Management Institute (PMI). This course has been reviewed by a law firm for accuracy. Note: This training material does not constitute legal advice.***Updated 4/2024***
